Damian Rebgetz was born in Darwin Australia and lives in Germany. He studied music (Queensland Conservatorium) and music theatre (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts) and completed an MA Sound Studies (University of the Arts Berlin) where he was awarded an Elsa Neumann graduate scholarship. He has worked as a performer/musician with Gob Squad, She She Pop, Ruedi Häusermann, Dominic Huber, Anna Sophie Mahler, Jeremy Wade, Kerstin Honeit and others. Since joining the ensemble of the Münchner Kammerspiele in 2015, he has worked in productions by Susanne Kennedy, Yael Ronen, Nicolas Stehmann and Alexander Giesche and Gobsquad and was part of the Theatertreffen invited production of ‘Mittelreich’ directed by Anna Sophie Mahler. His own performances include ‘The Hooks’ (HAU Hebbel am Ufer / Gessnerallee Zürich) with Emma Cattel, Paul Hankinson, Anna Luise Recke and Neela de Fonseka; ‘Something for the Fans’ (Impulse Festival / HAU Hebbel am Ufer / IdentityMove Festival); the ‘Heartbreakers Reunion Tour’ (klangstaetten-stadtklaenge Festival Braunschweig); and the performance lecture ‘Voice Box – That thing in your throat’ (Hundert Grad Berlin / Ars Electronica Festival / Staatstheater Braunschweig). In 2016 he created the performance 'Elegy for Television' with Baly Nguyen, Fabian Holle and Melanie Jame Wolf with film maker Benjamin Krieg for HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Gessnerallee Zürich and Münchner Kammerspiele. He has also performed a concert of Verkommenes Ufer / Medea Material / Landschaft mit Argonauten by Heiner Müller with Paul Hankinson for Heiner Müller Festival (HAU). He has created sound installations, concerts and performances for X-Firmen Theater der Welt Mannheim, X-Apartments Kosice, OneShot Mikrokosmische Raumforschung, Neuköllner Oper, Singuhr Hörgalerie, Club Transmediale, CrelleTon Galerie and has worked on projects with students in Germany and Australia.
